The Historian

Congratulations and welcome to the Historian Role!  Your role as the Historian is very important.  You will be in charge of Researching the Great Masters of the Impressionistic period.  Follow along with the steps below:

  1. Print out the Historian Worksheet and become familiar with the questions by reading over it.
  2. Click on the Historian Links found below, and read through all the infromation on the websites.
  3. As you come across information that relates to the questions on the worksheet, you should fill in the answers. You can find your links below:

When you are both finished with your own guide sheets:

  1. you need to discuss your findings with each other.  Go over each question on your guide sheet and explain your answers with your partner.
  2. After your guide sheet discussion, please also use the following questions to guide a discussion together:
  • Who are the Great Masters of the Impressionistic era?
  • Was there one painter who could be considered the “father” of the Impressionistic style?  If so, who is it?
  • How would you describe the style of Impressionism?
  • How would you recreate the style of Impressionism while painting?
