The Art Making Process

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Part two- The Art Making Process:

You will no longer be working in pairs for this part of the WebQuest.  You have two 80 minute class periods to complete the painting.  Follow the directions below and begin to paint like a Master!

  1. Choose a picture from either Google images, or one of your own.  The content of the picture should relate to the content of the Impressionistic era.
  2. On your 12″x16″ canvas, with a pencil, block out the major sections of your picture, drawing only the basic shapes. Remember, any detail you draw with a pencil, will be painted over with paint, so there is no need to for detail.
  3. Gather your supplies (Acrylic Paint colors, a round paintbrush, a cup of water, and a paper towel)
  4. Using the techniques of the Impressionistic Masters, you may begin to paint!
  5. Please take your time, and do your best since this painting will be displayed in your “museum”!
  6. Relax and have fun!
  7. Before handing it in, please use the “Step Back” technique.  Place your painting on the chalk board sill, and take a couple of steps back, does the painting still make sense?  Do you notice any areas that need a little more work?  Does the painting work as a whole?  If you answer yes to these questions, you may hand it in.
